Project Details

Some projects become far more than a website build.

They become long-term collaborations shaped by trust, communication, and a shared commitment to getting things right.

Working with Angel Extensions was exactly that.

Angel Extensions is a long-standing Australian family business founded by Paul, with a deeply established reputation within the hair industry and a loyal customer base built over many years. From the beginning, the goal wasn’t simply to modernise the brand online — it was about creating a digital ecosystem that could support both the wholesale and direct-to-consumer sides of the business while honouring the strong foundations already in place.

Over the course of more than a year, I worked closely with Simon, the brand’s Content Director, to bring that vision to life.

What made this project particularly unique was the development of two entirely custom Shopify websites operating side by side:

• A dedicated wholesale (B2B) platform for trade customers

• A refined direct-to-consumer (D2C) ecommerce experience

Rather than functioning as two disconnected stores, the challenge became creating a seamless operational flow between both platforms.

One of the largest technical components of the project was automating inventory management between the two sites. Products needed to sync accurately across separate customer experiences without disrupting stock levels, ordering systems, or fulfilment processes. Together, we developed a streamlined system that allowed inventory to communicate across both stores while reducing manual admin and operational friction.

Equally important was protecting the experience for existing wholesale customers.

Trade clients retained their exclusive access, custom pricing structures, and wholesale purchasing experience without compromise — allowing the business to evolve digitally without disrupting long-standing customer relationships.

Projects like this are rarely straightforward.

Over the year, we encountered plenty of technical hurdles, evolving ideas, and moments that required problem-solving from every angle. One of the reasons the project remained so well managed throughout was Simon’s ability to bridge the creative and operational sides of the business. Being a creative himself, he understood the importance of translating technical challenges clearly to the wider team. I was able to break down complex roadblocks in a way that made collaborative decision-making easier, which helped us keep momentum even during difficult stages of development.

That collaboration became one of the most rewarding parts of the project.

What started as a working relationship naturally evolved into a genuine friendship built through months of navigating challenges together, constantly refining ideas, and ultimately creating something we were both incredibly proud of.

For me, projects like Angel Extensions are a reminder that building strong digital experiences is never just about technology. It’s about understanding the people behind the business, respecting the history that already exists, and creating systems that genuinely support long-term growth.

Expansion Initiatives

This project involved custom Shopify development across both B2B and D2C ecommerce environments, with a strong focus on multi-store architecture, inventory synchronisation, and operational scalability. The build included wholesale customer systems, custom pricing structures, backend automation, third-party integrations, and responsive UX/UI design — all while ensuring seamless functionality between both platforms and supporting the long-term growth of the business.
