Recently, I had the opportunity to launch a full ecommerce transition and rebuild for Sophie Fletcher Designs, helping bring an already thriving creative business into its next stage of growth.
For the past seven years, Sophie has built an incredibly successful art-based business on Squarespace, cultivating a strong customer community and a recognisable creative identity through her distinct artistic style and thoughtful approach to her work. Over time, the brand has expanded significantly, now stocked in more than 50 retailers, making it clear the business had outgrown the limitations of its existing platform.
What made this project especially exciting from the beginning was that the foundation was already there. Sophie had created something people genuinely connected with. The challenge became building a platform that could better support the scale and momentum the business had naturally grown into over time.
Together, we made the decision to transition the brand from Squarespace to Shopify, creating a far more scalable ecommerce experience designed to support ongoing expansion, streamlined operations, and a more flexible customer journey moving forward.
The project focused heavily on preserving the warmth and creativity of Sophie’s existing brand while introducing a more refined and functional ecommerce structure underneath it all.
Sophie herself is genuinely one of the sweetest and most creative people to work with. She brings such a strong artistic perspective to everything she touches, which made the collaboration feel incredibly natural throughout the process. There was a real shared excitement around not only how the new website would look, but how it would transform the way the business operates behind the scenes as well.
As with many growing creative businesses, there comes a point where the platform that once supported the brand well no longer fully aligns with where the business is heading. This rebuild became less about starting over and more about creating infrastructure that could properly support the future of the brand without losing the personality and artistry that made people fall in love with it in the first place.
Seeing the new website officially launch has been incredibly exciting, both from a customer experience perspective and from an operational standpoint for Sophie herself.
Projects like this are always a reminder that thoughtful web design isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about creating systems that allow creative people to continue growing sustainably while staying connected to the heart of what makes their brand special.
